No Time!!!
I just don’t have time – Sound familiar!
We have all said the words ‘I don’t have time’ but in reality what we are usually saying is ‘I am prioritising other things’
For the things you have to do or want to do you always make the time.
For years I worked two jobs, full time Police Officer and Part time Martial Arts Instructor. Time was limited or so I thought. I came home from my main job and immediately started prepping for classes. I got back from teaching and spent the evening or what was left of it replying to messages from students or prospective students. It felt like I had no time to do anything for myself.
The truth was I had the same time as everyone else but I was prioritising running my clubs in my spare time over doing anything else. This was my choice.
We all have the same 24 hours in a day.
When I hear students give me the excuse they have no time what they are really saying is they are prioritising something else. A single class is one hour. It would be very difficult to suggest you did not have one hour spare in the day.
More likely you have many things to do and you are struggling with energy to do everything or you are just choosing to do something you place a higher value on.
We all have different values and different perceptions on what is important. To the majority their job will be of most importance as it pays the bills and enables their way of life. This is something they have to do with their time and naturally gets prioritised over other things.
We spend the majority of our lives working. Think about this. For many we work through our best years to be able to do what we like when we hit 68 years old and retire.
There is a saying “If you love what you do you never work another day in your life”
If you are working 8-10 hours a day doing something you hate then think about a change…
Think about how you spend your 24 hours a day.
How much time do you spend doing what you want?
How much time do you spend doing something you hate?
How much time in the day do you waste doing nothing when you could be doing something beneficial?
Next time you hear yourself say “I don’t have time” to do something important like exercising, think about what you are doing that is more important and whether it really is more important.
Consider how you could expand your time available by cutting out time wasted on social media/ watching TV or simply by getting up earlier!
Time is limited.
Make the most of your 24hrs today!
